The Cu Chi Tunnels · The Third Level Underground
Share
The Cu Chi tunnels run more than two hundred kilometres and are in three levels, the deepest eight metres down. Inside were kitchens, a hospital and meeting rooms, and the smoke was carried out through vents disguised as termite mounds.
During the war this was both a hiding place and a grave. Many stretches of the passage have no exit.
A route for visitors has now been made, and only the first two levels can be entered. The third level is closed — the official reason given is the risk of collapse.
