Nankai Main Building · The Permanently Locked Room on the Top Floor

The Old Main Building is magnificent in scale, but legend has it that a room on the top floor remains permanently locked, and through generations of key keepers, no one has dared to open it.

It is said that something happened there during a turbulent era; security guards on midnight patrol dare not go to the top floor, preferring to take the long way around through the underground tunnel.

Some students have conducted experiments: the number of steps counted going up differs from the number going down. This “uneven staircase” has become a secret sign for Nankai students.
