Borgvattnet Vicarage · Sweden’s Most Famous Haunted House
Share
The vicarage at Borgvattnet in northern Sweden is the most talked-about haunted house in the country. Three ghosts are said to be there: an old man digging in the garden, a woman calling from the doorway, and a child crying on the stairs.
Diaries kept by the vicars and records of visitors have been published. They describe blankets pulled off, an unseen person pressing on a shoulder, and a name called outside the window at night. The house is still rented out as a guesthouse.
Most people who have stayed there slept badly. The landlord’s explanation is: you are simply not used to the northern night.
