The Manila Film Centre · A Monument Built on a Deadline

The Manila Film Centre was put up in a rush for an international film festival. During the work a scaffold collapsed and workers fell into wet concrete; it is claimed that some were sealed directly into the structure.

The festival opened after the accident. The building has stood almost empty ever since.

Many stories are told about the inside: footsteps at the end of a corridor, whispering that cannot be explained, and one that says that among the columns of the hall the number of people is always one fewer than went in.
