The Jindo Sea Road · The Road That Opens Once a Year

Off Jindo, once a year, the sea opens in what is called the Moses Miracle: the water draws back and leaves a path about three kilometres long that people can walk across.

Legend says the sea god made the road for villagers fleeing tigers onto the island. It stays open for less than an hour, so the way back has to be beaten before the tide.

Locals add one more thing: nobody walking that road is allowed to stop and pick anything up along the way.
