Daereungwon, Gyeongju · The Silla Kings Beneath the Grass Mounds
Share
In the middle of Gyeongju lies a field of grass mounds: the tombs of the Silla royal house. The Cheonmachong tomb yielded a gold crown and a gold belt, and also the retainers buried with the king.
Locals say the mounds shift a little every few years, and that anyone passing over them at night hears a sound like bronze bells.
Archaeologists file this as legend. Long-time residents of Gyeongju say only this: do not stand between two tombs and talk.
