Mount Longhu Mansion of the Celestial Masters · The Celestial Master Seal and the Demon-Suppressing Well

Mount Longhu is the ancestral home of the Zhengyi School of Taoism, where successive Celestial Masters have resided and passed down their traditions; the Mansion of the Celestial Master houses ritual seals, swords, and lineages of talismans.

Local legend tells of a “Demon-Suppressing Well” in the mountains, its mouth sealed with a talismanic stone, opened only when Celestial Masters perform sacrificial rites.

Interestingly, the Zhengyi School is a sect that allows marriage, with the office of the Celestial Master passed from father to son. Locals say this is “suppression by blood”—using the most profound of human bonds to hold down the most volatile of subterranean forces.
