Mumbai’s Mukesh Mills stopped working after a fire in 1982, and the factory halls and warehouses, hundreds of metres long, have stood empty since — which made them a favourite location for Bollywood shoots.

Film crews are said to have caught figures in the abandoned building that should not have been there, and for a time the whole industry stopped shooting night scenes here.

The gatekeeper will walk a photographer around in daylight, and as he walks he says: anywhere you like, only not the upper floor.
