Dumas Beach · Black Sand

Dumas Beach · Black Sand

The sand at Dumas Beach is black, said to be the ash left from the cremations carried out here by the British. There have been many drownings, and the local authorities have banned access at night.

It is said that after dark laughter and dogs barking can be heard although the beach is empty, and that some people have been pushed towards the water by something they could not see.

Residents follow a fixed set of habits: do not go to the shore after dark, do not look back if you do, and never carry the sand home in your shoes.
