Liwan Plaza · The Four-Character Plaque and the Eight Coffins
Share
The four characters at the entrance of the plaza are written in cursive script. As soon as dusk falls, or when viewed from a distance at an angle, they look—from any perspective—like “Liwan Corpse Plaza.” This plaque has been hanging for so many years that no one dares to touch or change it.
What is even more unsettling is that in the 1990s, when the foundation was being excavated, workers dug up eight small coffins deep underground—not of a size meant for adults.
Later, this place became a famous “check-in spot,” but old locals all remember how those coffins were hauled away in the middle of the night; no one could ever say for sure.
