Chamberí Ghost Station · The Platform That Stopped in 1966
Share
Madrid’s Chamberí station opened in 1919 and was closed in 1966 because the curve was too sharp and the platform too short; trains still pass it as before, but passengers cannot see it.
The platform keeps its original look: white tiles, blue borders, old advertisements, a tin ticket booth, with dust settled over more than forty years.
In the stories, people have seen the platform in the lights of a passing train, or heard the station name announced. The metro company later turned it into a museum, and you need to book ahead to go down onto the platform.
