The Alhambra · Echoes in the Red Fortress

The Alhambra was the palace of the last Moorish kings of the Nasrid dynasty; the walls are covered with the words “there is no victor but God,” and water runs through the middle of the courtyards.
In 1492 the last king, Boabdil, set out from here to leave Granada and looked back once, and his mother said: weep like a woman for what you could not hold like a man.
The most famous part is the Court of the Lions. Guides will remind you: do not make a wish at the water basin — the water here has never stopped flowing, and no one knows when it last stood still.
