Fort Garry Hotel · Room 202
Share
Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg stands across from the railway station, once the place where rail travellers stayed: white walls, long corridors, and no great alteration in more than a hundred years.
The best-known story is room 202. A woman is said to have taken her own life in the room after losing her child, and guests since have described a hand on their forehead, someone crying beside the bed, the door opening by itself. The hotel later began renting that room out openly as a “haunted room”.
The front desk keeps a guest book. Among those who have written in it, one wrote “nothing at all”, and another wrote “please don’t leave me alone in here”.
