North Head Quarantine Station, Sydney · The Patient Who Refused to Leave

This place once quarantined smallpox and plague patients; hundreds perished on this hillside before they could reach the New World.

Today, some of the buildings have been converted into a hotel. Guests frequently report hearing the cries of children, doors moving on their own, and footsteps stopping at their bedsides.

Australian paranormal investigation groups have conducted numerous all-night recording sessions here, capturing cries for help on their radios that did not belong to anyone present. The staff simply says: don’t go near the wharf alone at night.
